Architecture Snob magazine for the sixth time!

The slogan of this issue of “Architecture Snob” is luxury. What is it today and does this word still mean luxury and expensive items? Considering the specific times we live in, partnership cooperation seems to me to be a luxury. Deadline Architects – heroes of one of the previous editions of the magazine – open each of their public appearances with the slogan: “cooperation, not competition”. These words resonate with me more and more. For me, as an architecture critic, it is crucial to enter into dialogue and interactions with various specialists in my field. It’s important to have an open mind, exchange knowledge and use it in all possible ways for the greater good. I think this is the only way we can heal the burning (unfortunately, increasingly literally) world.

The cover heroes of this issue are two Polish studios that are best known for their designs of sophisticated, luxurious interiors. Poznań-based mode:lina and Warsaw-based NOKE Architects value good relationships over individual success. Hand in hand, they prove that friendship in the world of architecture is possible, and the exchange of knowledge and mutual support are crucial for better design – sustainable and improving the quality of life for all of us. We talk about the condition of domestic design with Dorota Koziara – a designer of luxury brands, who seems to me to be a precursor of Polish success stories abroad. In the interview, we learn about the beginnings of her cooperation with Atelier Mendini and her activities to promote Polish talents around the world.

In this issue, we will also learn the story of Zofia Jaworska, Petro Vladimirov and Michał Sikorski, the people behind the project that was awarded at this year’s London Design Biennale. The goal of their OKNO project is to provide second-cycle windows to the most needy regions of rebuilding Ukraine. We talk about invisible luxury – i.e. privileges in public space – and sharing it with others with prof. Pippa Catterall.

I wish us all the luxury of unhurried and quality meetings with people and the freshness they can bring to our lives.
