1982 is martial law in Poland, 2022 – a period of a global pandemic and war in Ukraine. And in the meantime, political transformation, accession to the European Union, great changes – in Poland and in the world. Archicollags are personal reflections on breakthroughs in architecture, people of architecture, architectural ideas and revaluations.

The exhibition presents a selection of trends and topics around which Ewa P. Porębska’s professional activity revolves – ideological competitions, exhibitions, publications and debates, treated as essential elements of the public discourse on architecture; there is also the theme of the utopian ideal city as a special example of architectural creativity and the presentation of the professional attitudes of designers in the context of revaluations in architecture that occur over time.

 

#Archikolaże is an exhibition about ideals, but also about architectural temptations, exemplified by the concepts of utopian, ideal cities. It is also a story about the attitudes of designers and changes in architectural priorities in the face of the challenges of modern times. And of course, there is what interests me in particular – how debates, competitions, exhibitions, catalogues, books and magazines influence the direction of architecture development. Everything shown in a way in a nutshell, because concentrated in a small space. I really hope that the exhibition will be of interest not only to the strictly professional audience – says Ewa. P. Porębska.

 

The presentation is accompanied by documents from the years 1982-2022 in the form of letters, sketches, archival photos, models and fragments of films and television programs, as well as a series of meetings with directors of European institutions related to architecture and curators, architects and architects.
